SwWeek: display the current calendar week in the system tray
Description: SwWeek is a small free program whose sole function is to display the current calendar week number in the system tray.
A program that display the calendar week in the SystemTray.
If the mouse pointer is over the calendar week, the calendar week and the current day of the year is displayed.
Do you organize your work or personal life by week? Does it figure prominently in planning the things you do? My guess is that if you actually have an idea as to what week we’re in right now you probably will find that displaying this information on your system tray very practical.
For myself I like to set goals and deadlines by week. Also, for example, I create a folder for each week into-which I download the software that I find during that time, etc, so you can see how this program can be really useful to me. Here are more notes on this software:
- Day of the year: hover over the little week number in the system tray to get the number of the day of the year as well.
- Memory usage: just under 3 megs, which is more than I would have thought but still very low.
- Exiting the program: double-life-click on the system tray icon/number to exit.
- Installing: just unzip somewhere convenient and run. You can add a shortcut of the program to the startup folder to launch with Windows, or use a startup manager such as my favorite Starter.
The verdict: a simple program for a simple concept. I wavered before finally deciding to post this program, but finally decided to do it because despite being such a simple thing I am finding it extremely useful and was thinking that other people (especially businesspeople) will too.

The team was holding its breath in the countdown to the switch-on after a series of technical hitches, including problems with the cooling system.
The £5 billion machine has been described as a 17-mile racetrack around which two streams of protons - building blocks of matter - run in opposite directions before smashing into one another.
Reaching 99.99 per cent of the speed of light, each beam will pack as much energy as a Eurostar train travelling at 90 mph.
The flashes from the collisions may help scientists reproduce the conditions that existed during the first moments after the Big Bang at the birth of the universe.Within an hour they had successfully completed a circuit, signified by two white dots flashing on a computer screen.
The first collisions are expected in around 30 days.
Physicists hope to learn more about the origins of mass, gravity and mysterious dark matter - the "glue" thought to hold the universe together.
But concerns have been voiced - in particular by the German chemist Professor Otto Rossler - that black holes created by the LHC will grow uncontrollably and "eat the planet from the inside".
The LHC will produce beams seven times more energetic than any previous machine, and around 30 times more intense when it reaches its design performance, probably by 2010.

“It’s a regular annual exercise. As the appraisal cycle gets over, a multi-layer review happens. Following that, people who have fallen in the lower quadrants of performance are put on watch. Some are asked to pull up and others are asked to move on,” he said.
The review includes all the 60,000 global IT services employees from the senior leadership team down to the person with one-year experience.
In February, Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), the country’s largest IT services firm, had given pink slips to 500 non-performers. IBM, too, had asked about 700 employees in

“It’s not just our view, but the industry’s view, that we have to be thoughtful of additions and drive productivity. We took a closer look at our hiring and realised that we did not need to hire more, since there were people on the bench,” Kumar said.
Bench refers to the buffer of employees not assigned to a particular project. As the company works towards improving utilisation rates while keeping a tight rein on employee additions, its bench strength would come down. At the end of the quarter ended June 2008, Wipro’s utilisation rate was 78 per cent (excluding trainees) and 74 per cent (including trainees).
“We want to raise utilisation by 1-2 per cent during the year and the bench strength would go down by a similar percentage,” Kumar said.

Many infertile couples imagine that this is the cause of their problem. If your husband ejaculates inside you, then you can be sure that no matter how much semen leaks out afterwards, enough sperm will reach the cervical mucus. This leakage of semen (which is called effluvium seminis) is not a cause of infertility. In fact, this leakage is a good sign - it means your husband is depositing his semen normally in your vagina.
Fact: Semen consists mainly of seminal fluid, secreted by the seminal vesicles and the prostate. The volume and consistency of the semen is not related to its fertility potential, which depends upon the sperm count. This can only be assessed by microscopic examination. Myth: Increasing frequency of sex and/or changing the position of my hips will help achieve pregnancy Fact: Unlike many other parts of your lives, infertility may be beyond your control. Don't blame yourself if you are not getting pregnant - it's a medical problem which often needs appropriate medical treatment. It’s official at last. The shooting of Shankar’s Endhiran (Robot), which is being billed as Kollywood’s most historic venture, is to begin on September 8.
Industry sources said director Shankar, superstar Rajinikanth and Aishwarya Rai Bacchan left for the US on Friday along with a 40-member crew to film two songs for the film.
The movie, which has generated a lot of interest, boasts of a fabulous creative team including director Shankar, music director A R Rahman and ace cameraman Rathnavelu.
While Mary E Vogt, the well known designer who has worked in Hollywood movies like Men in Black, Batman Returns and Inspector Gadget will be designing the scientific outfits for the sci-fi movie, the animatronics of the film will be handled by the Stan Winston Studio (USA), which was responsible for the impressive animation sequences in movies such as Predator, Jurassic Park, Pearl Harbor, Iron man and the Terminator. While she plays a village girl in the former, it’s a modern one (“an extrovert, party-going character”) in the latter.
“I relate more to modern characters and wish that I’m given more such roles,” she says. “While I enjoy village-based characters, I would like to experiment more with urban-based roles.”
Having been cast as a village girl, has she ever visited villages? “My grandparents used to live in a village near Kolkata… I love visiting that place!” The actress has a background in theatre and is sure that the experience would help her perform better in Kollywood. “I’ll surely not do a bikini act but am open to glamour roles,” she adds. A trained Bharatnatyan dancer, Meenakshi feels that she is comfortable with dance numbers too. Ask her if she’s interested in doing item numbers and she grins. “Nothing now,” she smiles, “Probably after I’m an established name in the industry!” Now, that’s quite an item! After his not so impressive Pandurangudu, Nandamuri Balakrishna's latest film has been announced. It will be launched on October 9th (Vijayadasami). Sivalenka Krishna Prasad, who previously produced Balakrishna's starrers Aditya 369, Vamsanikokkade and Balevadivi Basu
is producing this one as well.
SS Rajamouli's understudy, Mahadev is debuting as director. Priyamani has been selected to play the heroine opposite the veteran superstar. The producer stated in an interview, We have selected Priyamani as heroine for Balayya.
Vijayendra Prasad is providing the story. Dialogues are by Ratnam. Rama Rajamouli is the costumes designer. Mani Sharma is the music director. The first schedule will start with the launch itself and will continue till October end.
A 15-day schedule will take place every month till the completion. Chandramohan, Brahmanandam, Pradeep Rawat, Tannikella Bharani, Ahuti Prasad and Dharmavarapu are the ther actors. Art is by Anandsai and stunts are by Ram-Lakshman.
