There is no evidence to show that actor T Prashanth demanded dowry from his wife Grahalakshmi or that he treated her cruelly. This is the conclusion of the anti-dowry cell of the city police, which extensively probed the allegations of Grahalakshmi.
The police communicated the decision to the XVII metropolitan magistrate at Saidapet on May 23 saying the dowry harassment case against him is to be closed. Grahalakshmi is entitled to lodge her objections in 15 days.
It all began on September 14, 2007, when police registered a case after Grahalakshmi first lodged a complaint against Prashanth and then moved the Madras high court to obtain a direction to the city police to register an FIR. Besides the actor, Grahalakshmi had cited his actor-father S Thiagarajan, mother Shanthi and sister T Preethi as aggressors. All of them, however, obtained bail.
Grahalakshmi had alleged that she was treated as a “dirt,” forced to eat non-vegetarian food items, put in solitary confinement, prevented from making calls to her parents, not allowed to bolt her bedroom and not allowed to live in peace.
As her father had passed away during the intervening period, the investigating officer could record Grahalakshmi’s statements only on April 22. Among others, the official had inquired Dr Rangabashyam, advocate Nalini Chidambaram, actor Viji, dance master Kala, her alleged “first husband” Narayanan Venu Prasad, servant and housekeeping agent of Thiagarajan’s house.
The report cited Grahalakshmi as saying on several occasions that neither her husband Prashanth nor her inlaws harassed her for dowry and that she was not treated cruelly. “Mrs Grahalakshmi admitted that Mr Prashanth and his family did not demand any dowry and further they (Grahalakshmi’s family) have not paid any dowry to them,” the report said.
Citing independent witnesses, the report said the allegation of Grahalakshmi and her family members was “baseless”.
As for Grahalakshmi’s allegation that she was not allowed to accompany her husband for shoots, Prashanth’s family had told the police that the actor did not want to expose her to the public.
As against Grahalakshmi’s claim that she was not allowed to make calls to her parents, the report referred to two SIM cards used by her and said her allegation was baseless. Also, her brothers visited her at Thiagarajan’s house and it was supported by independent witnesses, the report said. “Her movement was not restricted and she was taken to various hospitals and temples by her in-laws,” it added. Initially, the film, after being in the making for nearly two years, was set to release on 6 June. But now the producer Oscar Ravichandran, who seems to be a very harried man these days, today said that the film would release either on 6 or 13 June. Ravichandran, however, wouldn’t confirm on the date. ‘You will shortly see an advertisement on that,’ he said rather cryptically. The Madras High Court will tomorrow pronounce orders on the film on a petition filed by Vaishnavite organisations seeking changes of the title and deletion of some ‘objectionable scenes’.

Karunanidhi wrote the story, Saarappallam Chamundi, for the special Pongal issue of DMK journal Murasoli in 1964. The same story was re-published in the Republic Day issue of the journal under the title Uliyin Oasai in the same year. The Periya Kovil in Thanjavur, built by Raja Raja Chola, provides the backdrop for the story. Hit Bollywood film ‘Baazigar’, which catapulted superstar Shah Rukh Khan to fame, is all set to be remade in Tamil now by director P. Vasu. Vasu has bought the remake rights of the 1993 blockbuster and his son Shakti will play the lead role, a press release said here Wednesday. The rest of the cast is yet to be finalised. The film will go on floors after the completion of Rajnikanth starrer ‘Kuselan’. Industry sources said Vasu hopes that some of Rajnikanth’s luck would rub off on him after the release of ‘Kuselan’. The Hindi original directed by Abbas-Mastan had Shah Rukh playing a negative role and also starred Kajol, Shilpa Shetty and Dalip Tahil. Believed to have been inspired by the 1991 Hollywood flick ‘A Kiss Before Dying’, ‘Baazigar’ established Shah Rukh as a star in Bollywood. Shakti was launched by Vasu in 2007 amid much fanfare with a collaboration with ace Tamil director K.S. Ravi Kumar in ‘Thottaal Poo Malarum’. But the movie didn’t do well due to an insipid story and listless performances. The next Shakti-starrer, an offbeat venture ‘Mahesh, Saranya Mattrum Palar’, is due for release early June. Initially he chose ‘Seval’ which is director Hari’s upcomming movie with Bharath, but Hari refused to part with the title to Vijay. Now Hari has again announced that his next project with Surya is titled Singam. Yes the same title that Vijay was going to act in under Prabhudeva direction. The lead actress of this movie with Vijay is Nayantara. The buzz is that the clash between director Hari and Vijay started when Vijay refused call sheet for Hari’s ‘Vel’ because of his prior commitment to ‘Azhagiya Tamizh Magan’. Now the team of Prabudeva, Vijay are searching for a suitable title for their upcomming flick. Lets hope its not the same as Hari’s next movie after Singam.

Much to the envy of women the world over, Rai has consistently looked stunning on the red carpet. Herova Zerova documentary Photo Stills
In a bid to reduce primary school dropout rate and eradicate child labour in the state, the Tamil Nadu Government, an NGO and four Tamil film stars have joined hands to send across a message to the society on the evils.
In the five-minute documentary, titled “Herova Zerova” (are you a Hero or Zero), actor couple Surya-Jothika, and top stars Vijay and Madhavan are seen speaking against child labour and stressing the need for the young hands to hold pens and pencils rather than the spanner and chisel.
The documentary, produced by Agaram Foundation, has big names from South Indian cinema behind the screen too. Popular music director Harris Jayaraj has scored the music while noted cinematographer, K V Anand is behind the camera.
Sreekar Prasad has donned the editor’s role.
The NGO has made the five minute documentary for the Ministry of School Education which in turn would be beaming it on all television channels to create public awareness on the issues, School Education Minister Thangam Thennarasu said.
Later, the minister told PTI that the dropout percentage in the primary school level (class one-five) in the state was 1.4 per cent and the upper primary level (class six-eight) 2.4 per cent. The campaign will be a continuous process so that there is considerable awareness on school education, he added.

It’s confirmed. Bollywood’s heartthrob Ranbir Kapoor and girlfriend Deepika Padukone will be soon tying the knot. Yes you got it right; the two newcomers are all in love and will be soon be ‘man and wife’.In an interview given to a news daily, the young starlet Deepika made it official by saying: " Within the next five years I hope to be Mrs Kapoor and the leading lady of Bollywood." Talking about how it started it all, the actress stated that it was love at first sight for the couple and they struck a chord even before their first films were released. " It was love at first sight. We met through mutual friends and we fell for each other right away but we needed time for our love to grow before we made a serious commitment’.
Brushing aside rumours of the couple heading for splitsville, the actress stated that such rumours really upset her, however the two have decided not to let such baseless speculation affect their affection for each other.Looks like Bollywood beauties have chalked down huge plans for the next five years as after Bebo, its now Dips who is all up for marriage after five years. But unlike Saif who has made candid confessions about his hope to marry Miss Size Zero, Ranbir has chosen to stay mum on the subject. Well we don’t know about marriage after five years but for now the couples seem to be in love with the idea.
Love is a single word but it carries many deep feelings within itself. These are care, understanding, devotion, dedication, respect for each other, and sense of responsibility thereby making this feeling so powerful and incredible. The feeling of love comes instantly in a person’s heart and it has the power to merge an individual within itself. Love: a four letter word which fills everybody’s heart with smile, happiness and joy. It is a delicate thread which binds two people in such a strong relation. It makes life so beautiful.
Everything around you seems to blossom. Love brings meaning to ones life. It makes you feel special in its own way. You just can’t stop thinking about your beloved. When you are in love you can never be lonely wherever you go. Love is when you want to be with your soul mate every time and everywhere. Love makes each day worth getting up for. It’s magic! It can do wonders. It is the feeling of heart not mind.
You don’t have to go overboard by going to a fancy restaurant every other day or going on vacations that you cannot afford. Mind you those things help but, sometimes the little things that mean the most. Here are five things you can do that will improve your relationship and will allow you to have the best love making experience:
1. Listening
The lack of communication can be very frustrating to women but not listening can really get their dander up. Many men have been accused of concentrating more on whatever was on television than our wives and girlfriends. To a large degree it’s true. Most women like to talk about personal matters that have a direct bearing on their lives, their family or friends. What’s on TV at that time is irrelevant. Show that you appreciate her by listening. Don’t just wait for her to start talking. Initiate the conversation sometimes, and then listen carefully not only to what she says but her body language as well. This is not a one shot deal. Listening to her on a steady basis can only help better your relationship.
2. The Small Occasion Celebration
We’ve all seen the shows where the woman gets upset because the husband forgets their anniversary or birthday. That quite honestly should never happen. However for a lot of women, there are many smaller occasions that mean just as much; for instance the anniversary of your first date or the day both of you bought something together.
Being able to surprise your lady with little things that you know mean something to her (something she probably figured you took no notice of) can be a major relationship booster. If you have to “cheat” a little bit then get your own personal journal to keep track of these things.
3. Get to Know her People
Women value their relationships. While many men are of the take it or leave it mentality, it is very important to most women that you get to know her family and friends. These are people who make up a special part of her life and by taking the energy and effort to genuinely get to know them, you are showing her how much you love and care for her.
They maybe coming from a perspective that you are not crazy about but hang in there. Be open minded and respectful. The chances are that somewhere down the line you will want her to meet your people. Extend the same courtesies to her family and friends that you would expect from her if the situations were reversed.
It’s easy to get stuck in a routine and set in our ways. But it’s most important to continually show the lady of your life that you love her. Again it doesn’t take extravagance. Get to know her people, be mindful of the small big occasions and above all listen. Doing these three things is planting the seeds of long term healthy relationship.
4. Give up Trying to Change the Other Person
The desire to fix or change the other person is one of the biggest mistakes you can make. Plus, it causes power struggles within relationships and issues of control. One person feels she cannot love the other unless the other changes. The other feels hurt, inadequate and as though something is wrong with him.
Having a healthy relationship means having the ability to love your partner as they are. Our partners have been put here to grow, develop and discover who they are. This can be a lengthy and challenging process. But the surprising thing about change is that the less we push and disapprove of others, the more easily and naturally they grow and change.
5. Develop Patience
Patience is an old-fashioned word in today’s world. However, there is no way to rush growth in relationships or in the development of joy. If you’re eager to get on the right track, there are two ways to get started: Learn how to be more giving and make an effort to be a better listener. But each one of these tasks takes time to master — and patience. That’s why it is necessary to realize that as we are, right now at this moment, we are lovable and acceptable. If you’re ready to increase the amount of joy you feel in your own relationship, take back the responsibility for finding joy in your life, you will be pleased at the results.

Other than Sangeetha , Anjali and Madesh, last years winner Santoshi and Fashion Designer Kavya comprised the panel of judges.
The Miss Chinnathirai contest conceived in the year 2007 and this is the second year of the unique competition which involves the participation of ladies who grace the televisions in the different serials.
For extra entertainment for the audience there were dance performances, special fusion music and songs sung by famous artists.
Sometimes, you go to a movie with the lowest of expectations. Either the whole cast and crew is new or it’s an old and established one, with its own values, ethics, story and acting set in stone. And when it’s a star/politician with a lot at stake both in cinema and politics, you’re doubly sure that the movie isn’t going to be anything to write home about.
Captain Cine Arts’ Tamil film Arasangam (Government) directed by Madhesh and starring ‘Captain’ Vijaykanth certainly didn’t inspire wild hopes of an excellent movie. But fate has a way of throwing you off. This movie is one such pleasant surprise.

One of the first surprise elements is that Vijaykanth doesn’t appear until at least twenty minutes of the movie has passed, which is a very good thing. And when he does appear, there’s less of pyrotechnics and fireworks exploding. This time, he’s Arivarasu, an instructor at the Police Training Academy . He’s intellectual, dignified, intelligent and well-versed in the world’s best police training methods. He trains batches of students by conducting simulated police exercises.
So when the police, baffled at the disappearance of his best friend Manoj (Biju Menon) and several assassinations of prominent scientists and entrepreneurs calls him to investigate, it actually makes sense. Not to mention the fact that Manoj is actually his brother-in-law too.
A little interlude of how Aarthi (Navneet Kaur) becomes his wife is rather cutely shot.
And then, when you expect gunshots and fisticuffs, the story surprises you with a logical train of events. Arivarasu, instead of fighting a thousand goons single-handedly, takes mature decisions and follows procedures. At every point he uses his brains and predicts the outcome. And even if such an outcome is rather amateurish at times, you still like the panache with which he does it.
Chandru (Rahul Dev) is the first of many villains who manages to throw our hero off track, and then gets killed just at the right moment. Many more follow as well as an unexpected twist in the tale. The hunt for Manoj takes Arivarasu to Canada which reminds you of shades of Vettaiyadu Vilaiyadu.
With Aarthi safe at home as wife, it’s the turn of Lara (Seril Brindo), a member of the Royal Canadian Police Force, to show him the ropes. How she does this by wearing skimpy clothes and high heels is a mystery. Fortunately, there’s actually something for her to do. And then it’s back to saving the country.
This being his 150th movie, Vijaykanth has certainly made several carefully thought out decisions. Firstly, there are no shrill screams about patriotism and long speeches about serving the country, except in the climax. But since Biju Menon also has a part to play, it’s evenly matched.
The crux of the assassinations is well-explained, and Vijaykanth takes the time to throw in a few well-placed barbs at the present political scenario. There is no unnecessary bashing up either.
At a strategically important position in Tamil Nadu politics, he undoubtedly understands the need to appear suave, polished and educated — and indeed, does inspire a certain dignity with his portrayal. It shows a good deal for his maturity that he’s chosen a role that fits his age, and has acted with restraint.
Biju Menon in a meaty role this time has done well. An emaciated Rahul Dev looks the part, though he hams throughout. Both the heroines have very little to do but prance around in designer costumes. Sreeman appears very briefly, but makes an impression. So does a clean-shaven and fit Riyaz Khan.
Rocky Rajesh’s stunts have hit the mark, only to be expected in a ‘Captain’ film.
Srikanth Deva’s songs are mediocre except for the foot-tapping Kuruvi.
In the end though, its Madhesh’s screenplay that wins, showing some signs of intelligence and hard work. Go watch the movie with nil expectations.
Its going to be Namitha who is going to seduce Srikanth and not the otherway round in her next movie Indira Vizha. The movie story revolves around lady boss Namitha who tires to seduce her handsome employee Srikanth. The story revolves around 3 main characters namely, Santhosh Srinivasan - role played by Srikanth,Kamini played by Namitha and Savithri-played by Hemamalini who is Srikanth’s wife in the movie. The movie is said to be inspired by Hollywood flick ‘Disclosure’. Demi Moore and Michael Douglas played lead in that film. The movie has also been made into Bollywood movie by the name of Aitraz with Akshay Kumar, Priyanka Chopra and Kareena Kapoor in the lead roles.

‘PANDI’ is yet another movie by Hitesh Japak of Nemichand Japak who have produced two movies so far- both 100 day superhits: ‘Naan Avanillai’ and ‘Anjaathey’. The movie will feature Raghavendra Lawrence in the lead role, paired with Sneha and Namitha. Music for the movie is by Srikanth Deva, and he has tried a remake of yesteryear hit Maasi Masam for ‘Pandi’. The movie is directed by Madhuravan and is said to be a family entertainer, though Sneha sashaying the screens in western outfits with her ‘makeover’ may suggest otherwise. Coming from a banner that has produced two superhits so far, this movie is certainly keeping the industry buffs waiting.
